“Terroni” per sempre…

Nonostante tale definizione sia anacronistica, certamente siamo “terroni”, per molti abitanti del Nord Italia, la cui origine è autoctona, i quali considerano ancora il popolo meridionale una “specie” inferiore, retrograda, sporca, che confonde le vasche da bagno con vasi di grandi dimensioni, in cui coltivare prezzemolo o altra verdura, forse per la struggente nostalgia delle proprie ubertose terre, lasciate nell’amato Sud.
Purtroppo, spiace doverlo constatare, alcuni abitanti del Nord ancora etichettano i cittadini meridionali con tale rude epiteto, anche se metaforicamente “bucolico”, la cui finalità dovrebbe essere l’offesa, che, in realtà, sortisce l’effetto di essere una “comica” definizione del contadino.
È certo, difatti, che l’agricoltura, attività primaria che svolgeva ed ancora svolge la maggior parte degli abitanti del Sud Italia, è un’attività di grande valore strategico per la vita di uno Stato, tuttavia non valorizzata adeguatamente per quanto attiene la sua espressione produttiva.
Non si può negare che gli abitanti del Sud, i quali emigravano nel Nord Italia, recavano con sé anche la propria umiltà che è un valore inestimabile, divenuto, nell’epoca attuale, un ricordo lontano. A volte la provocazione si tingeva con i colori feroci del razzismo in quanto molti settentrionali rifiutavano l’affitto dei propri appartamenti ai meridionali. C’è da chiedersi scherzosamente se, per caso, non avessero paura che, considerato l’uso improprio delle vasche da bagno, portato all’esasperazione dagli umili uomini del Sud Italia, Milano potesse diventare una cittadella verde e potesse perdere il grigiore della nebbia, a cui erano molto affezionati.
Il razzismo si colorava per noi immigrati anche di note sarcastiche perché essi non vedevano, accecati dall’odio razzistico, il fecondo apporto che il meridionale immigrato offriva alla loro economia, il fatto che fossimo “braccia lavoro” molto produttive, al di là dell’aneddoto relativo al prezzemolo coltivato bizzarramente nelle vasche da bagno!
L’epiteto “terrone” resta, nonostante l’Italia ospiti, ormai da alcuni decenni, popoli di diverse etnie e culture.
Non è certamente tale ridicola definizione a costituire il reale problema del popolo meridionale. Con grande tristezza dobbiamo affermare che la nostra amata terra “meridionale” è esclusa dalla partecipazione a quei processi economici che la renderebbero, al pari del Nord, una terra rigogliosa di benessere per sé e per gli altri.
È l’indolenza a bloccarne il progresso? Sicuramente no. Ad una analisi storicistica e, pertanto, scientifica, emerge tristemente che la causa è da ricercare nell’intenzione di tanti cittadini del Meridione d’Italia di restare radicati saldamente a chi realmente detiene il potere del territorio meridionale. Le motivazioni sono molteplici. Tra esse certamente predomina la paura di essere avversato, tuttavia, è triste doverlo ammettere, alla paura si affianca la complicità ad un sistema ritenuto capace di rispondere, attraverso il favoritismo ed il clientelismo, alle richieste di aiuto e di inserimento sociale da parte di molti abitanti del Sud Italia.
