Il 25 aprile 1977, da Terrasini, Radio Aut cominciava a fare le prime prove di trasmissione. Due anni dopo, a circa un anno dalla morte di Peppino, mi sono trovato solo, in quella radio a ricordare la Resistenza, anzi, a considerare che anche quella di Peppino, la mia e quella di pochissimi altri compagni era una forma di Resistenza. Il brano fa parte del mio libro migliore, “Cento passi ancora” (ed. Rubbettino 2014, pag. 94) (S.V.)
«Pesco un vecchio disco di canti della Resistenza pieno di struscii, rumori di fondo e di uova fritte e attacco con “Bella Ciao”, poi vado a ruota libera, come se stessi facendo una lezione, il solito vizio professionale. Penso per prima cosa al mio professore di liceo, che ci diceva: “Liberazione, ma da chi?” In realtà, a quella data, cioè nel 1945, noi siciliani eravamo stati “liberati” da un pezzo, pochissimi i colpi sparati, nella marcia degli americani da Gela a Palermo. Qualche scaramuccia più cruenta si era avuta nel catanese per la presenza di un forte contingente tedesco che gli americani avevano scaricato sulle spalle degli inglesi. Non ci eravamo liberati dal nemico, sol perché numericamente insufficiente ad affrontare l’offensiva alleata, e che, pertanto si era ritirato, come i soldati borbonici davanti a Garibaldi, non ci eravamo liberati da noi stessi, perché nessuno aveva usato un’arma, non ci eravamo liberati dai fascisti, perché erano quasi tutti rimasti ai loro posti diventando collaborazionisti. E soprattutto non ci eravamo liberati dalla mafia, che aveva spianato la strada agli americani e aveva in cambio ricevuto lucrosi affari e incarichi. Il momento della liberazione parve invece essere arrivato due anni dopo, quando, il 20 aprile 1947 il Blocco del Popolo vinse le elezioni. Sembrava che tutto dovesse cambiare: c’era la fame di terra, la promessa di distribuzione delle terre incolte, la volontà e la capacità di organizzare le lotte per la conquista dei feudi da parte di alcuni sindacalisti, disposti a mettere a rischio anche la propria vita. Può essere affascinante l’ipotesi che la nostra Resistenza sia stata quella, ma che si sia tragicamente realizzata con la strage di Portella della Ginestra e con lo sterminio di una quarantina di sindacalisti. E a questo punto le differenze cominciano a delinearsi: la Resistenza era stata una “lotta armata”, oltre che un’insurrezione o una lotta di popolo contro un nemico interno, il fascismo, e contro il suo alleato esterno, il nazismo. La Resistenza aveva avuto un supporto logistico da parte degli alleati, che avevano rifornito di armi e assistenza alcuni nuclei più agguerriti, diffidando comunque dei gruppi troppo orientati a sinistra. La Resistenza aveva potuto usufruire di un forte comitato di Liberazione, attorno al quale si erano stretti tutti i nuclei antifascisti. Nulla di tutto questo invece nelle lotte contadine per la conquista delle terre del biennio 46-48. I contadini si battevano per il rispetto della legalità, ovvero per l’applicazione di una legge dello stato, i decreti Gullo. Non avevano armi, ma solo la loro voglia di lottare insieme contro i gabelloti, ovvero contro il braccio armato dei grandi latifondisti. Il P.C.I. e il P.S.I, a parte il grande dispendio di forze impiegate nella creazione di strutture organizzative (Federterra, Federbraccianti ecc.) non avevano potuto e saputo dare, ma non poteva essere altrimenti, una carica offensiva e difensiva forte che potesse fungere da risposta alle prepotenze armate dei mafiosi. Lo Stato se ne stava a guardare, potendo i mafiosi contare su tutta una serie di complicità che andavano dall’ordine pubblico all’amministrazione della giustizia, al controllo dei voti nelle campagne. A chiudere il cerchio l’atteggiamento americano, che mai avrebbe permesso, dopo gli accordi di Yalta, la creazione di una regione gestita dalle sinistre al centro del Mediterraneo. E così, quella che poteva essere una vittoria che avrebbe segnato la fine della mafia, si tramutò in una sonora sconfitta e nella perpetuazione del sistema atavico di controllo delle campagne e dei lavoratori. Si può chiamare questa la “nostra resistenza”? Erano partigiani i contadini in lotta? Qualcuno ci provò: Placido Rizzotto, per esempio, proveniva dall’esperienza partigiana al nord e su questa traccia stava cominciando ad organizzare i contadini. Anche di Giuseppe Maniaci, sindacalista di Terrasini, si sa che non era disposto ad accettare alcuna prepotenza. Tutto questo avrebbe significato lotta armata, cioè autentica Resistenza contro un nemico interno, la mafia, altrettanto feroce quanto i fascisti. Non fu così perché le condizioni per una guerra armata erano tramontate e perché i dirigenti contadini lottavano per il trionfo della giustizia dello stato. Adesso ha un senso definire partigiani tutti coloro che si impegnano nella lotta alla mafia? Non c’è dubbio che essere partigiano è qualcosa di affascinante, ma molto lontano dalla realtà, perché i mafiosi usano la pena di morte, mentre gli inermi cittadini , ma anche lo stato, si attengono alle norme della società civile, a meno di non indulgere a pericolose complicità. Perso in questa domanda scrivo qualcosa…
Partigiano d’altra sponda
ho conosciuto mafiosi, anziché fascisti,
la differenza non era poi molta:
stesse indicibili violenze,
stesso sistema di paura,
stessa scientifica teoria del silenzio,
stesso teschio come simbolo.
Sempre col vecchio dilemma,
se rispondere allo stesso modo
o se scegliere la non–violenza,
se subire l’esercizio del ricatto
e sperare nella protezione dello stato,
oppure organizzare passaggi di lotta dura.
Nella teoria del rosso si amalgamano le arance,
i gelsi, il melograno, il pomodoro, il sangue.
Ogni giorno trangugi la bibita
e ti predisponi all’assuefazione.
Nei casi di ordinaria eversione
c’è l’emarginazione,
per la scheggia impazzita c’è l’eliminazione.
D’improvviso mi ricordo che il 25 aprile 1977 Radio Aut metteva in onda le prime prove di trasmissione. Sono passati appena due anni e quella che poteva essere una micidiale arma d’offesa, in fin dei conti si è ridotta a sparare proiettili a salve, un pesce costretto a boccheggiare per mancanza d’ossigeno, di linfa vitale. Ogni velleità ha finito con il fare i conti, con il dileguarsi, davanti al muro invalicabile che ci è stato costruito attorno. Reagisco alla sensazione d’impotenza mettendo sul piatto canti di resistenza e canti di lotte sociali d’ogni tipo, a cominciare da “Contessa”».
