Il vero, il falso, il verosimile, il diverso
Pensiero ed esperienza
Da Platone in poi, non considerando il percorso orientale del “velo di Maja”, la differenza tra l’essere e l’apparire, passando per la somiglianza, la mimesis, è diventata la divaricazione in cui l’umanità si dibatte senza saperne distinguere l’identità e nemmeno i contorni. A monte ci sta il pensiero e il suo rapporto con le cose: se prima esistono le ipostatizzazioni del pensiero, le idee platoniche, le forme aristoteliche, le forme a priori e dopo c’è l’essere, se l’essere delle cose è tale in quanto pensato, se tra il pensiero e le cose c’è differenza, o se quello che arriva al cervello è conseguenza della sensazione riempita dal contenuto del dato empirico. Per intenderci si può fare un confronto con la visione dei bovini, che, rispetto a quella degli uomini è di 330°, prevalentemente laterale monoculare a grandi distanze, o tra la visione di un miope, di un presbiope, di un monocolo ecc.: ognuno ha una sua lettura di ciò che lo circonda, ha una sua visione. Platone metteva la realtà autentica nel mondo delle idee, ovvero nell’Iperuranio, ritenendo la realtà materiale una spuria imitazione dell’idea, nella quale invece risiede la perfezione. Con Aristotele le cose cominciano a cambiare: alla sua scuola peripatetica appartiene il detto, poi ripreso e codificato da Tommaso D’Aquino “Nihil est in intellectu quod prius non fuerit in sensu”. Nel Seicento l’impostazione della filosofia greca si presta a nuovi sviluppi con la duplice classificazione tra empirismo e razionalismo, da una parte c’è la scuola inglese (Locke) legata alla considerazione che l’esperienza è il primo momento che porta alla formazione delle idee, dall’altra il razionalismo cartesiano che separa res cogitans e res exstensa senza risolvere il loro rapporto se non attraverso l’azione della ghiandola pineale e l’individuazione di tre certezze, il cogito, il mondo e Dio che diventano tali in quanto idee innate, infuse da Dio, che avrebbe anche infuso l’dea di se stesso per farsi pensare esistente. Solo in Spinoza, con l’anticipazione fatta mezzo secolo prima da Giordano Bruno, i due aspetti scompaiono e si sciolgono nell’unità della Sostanza, di cui sono attributi: deus sive natura rappresenta una compatta fusione di spirito e materia che esclude qualsiasi divaricazione. E tuttavia la tendenza a privilegiare e a differenziare spirito e materia torna un secolo dopo nel pensiero kantiano, nella differenza tra fenomeno e noumeno, tra l’apparire della cosa e la “cosa in sé”, pensabile ma non conoscibile. L’idealismo tedesco tende a identificare tutto come pensiero, del quale la realtà è un effetto, la natura un’antitesi. Si potrebbe continuare all’infinito nell’elenco delle scelte di pensiero che si schierano da una delle due parti da Comte a Marx, a Darwin, a Nietzsche, a Sartre, per ripiegare su Bergson, Gentile, Husserl, Heidegger: spesso il tentativo di una sintesi porta a soluzioni nascoste che non riescono ad uscire dalla trappola della metafisica o che si chiudono nel nichilismo.
Apparenza e realtà
Nell’età dei media la cultura dell’immagine, e quindi dell’apparire, è ormai prevalente e generalizzata. La nostra è una civiltà dell’apparenza. Il mondo non è ciò che sta fuori, ma il modo in cui viene letto, fotografato, definito, “potato” e postato, espresso e trasmesso. Accanto alla parola-significante che si riferisce al significato, il dato finisce con l’essere occultato e sacrificato dal suo diventare visione, e poiché ogni visione ha come unità di misura chi vede, e quindi gli strumenti di lettura di chi vede, dai sensi alle telecamere, ai cellulari, alle parole, tutto diventa ipotesi di realtà letta, pensata, riprodotta e creduta tale. Si ritorna così inevitabilmente ai fantasmi della metafisica, e a tutta una serie di icone sistemate in un tempio dedicato all’immaginazione che sostituisce il dato e l’esperienza o si sovrappone ad essa. Anche l’espletazione dei bisogni diventa pilotata dalla promozione di falsi bisogni la cui soddisfazione diventa indispensabile, anche per chi economicamente preferisce sottoporsi a sacrifici e privazioni, pur di conseguire un desiderato oggetto o una sognata, anche momentanea condizione di vita. Falsi desideri, false aspettative, false aspirazioni, false soddisfazioni, come del resto è prassi della società dei consumi, dell’usa e getta, delle griffe, dei miti, degli eroi di un giorno, dello status simbol, dell’identificazione delle insufficienze del proprio essere nel modello che tutte le possiede e infine, per dirla con T. W. Adorno, delle cose inutili che diventano indispensabili. C’è confronto tra una ”gonfiata” melenzana di serra e una grinzosa melenzana biologica coltivata in campo aperto? O, se vogliamo, tra una prorompente miss, un fusto palestrato e una timida ragazza o un bravo giovane di paese? Tra una grassa viziosa e una magra virtuosa? (vale anche al maschile). Eppure gran parte dell’umanità sceglie ciò che è più appariscente.
Come mi vedo e come sono
C’è ancora un aspetto legato alla proiezione della propria immagine, che è sempre diversa da quella reale. Ognuno vede se stesso depurato dei suoi lati peggiori, si immagina vicino al proprio modello di bellezza o di bontà, fino a quando non legge nello specchio, (senza voler fare riferimenti a Lacan), il proprio essere riflesso, del quale ci si può innamorare solo se si possiede la bellezza di Narciso. C’è sempre uno scarto tra il modo in cui gli altri ci vedono e il modo in cui presumiamo di apparire, magari con meno rughe, meno pancia, meno difetti di postura, più gradevolezza, più illuminazione del viso, soprattutto pensando che la stima che abbiano di noi stessi sia molto, ma molto meno condivisa, perché siamo nella convinzione che gli altri non sanno leggerci dentro. In un suo bel brano Luigi Tenco cantava:
“Vorrei provare ad essere un’altra persona
Per vedere me stesso come mi vedono gli altri
Vorrei sapere qual è l’impressione che prova
Chi non sa per nulla quello che faccio e che sono
Quando cammino pensando ai fatti miei
Quando sorrido per chiedere qualcosa
La mia paura è che a vedere me come sono
Io potrei rimanere deluso.”
È qua il vero punto, dentro e fuori: se la bellezza esteriore sia una manifestazione di quella interna e viceversa o se la bellezza interiore può manifestarsi all’esterno, sia nell’aspetto fisico che nella gestualità, che nell’espressione. In realtà si tratta di dare corpo e senso all’apparire ritenendolo un’estrinsecazione dell’essere: si pensi alla bruttezza di Leopardi e alla bellezza dei suoi versi o, se vogliamo spostarci di qualche secolo, a Pavese o ad Alda Merino. Chi ha un minimo di sensibilità si accontenta della bellezza interiore, perché è quella che conta, che si deteriora molto più lentamente, che garantisce serenità e soddisfazione in ogni confronto. Eppure l’umanità preferisce in genere ubriacarsi di apparenze, correre dietro a fuochi fatui o a miti, preferisce chi grida più forte, adatta il proprio modo di vivere e di essere a un modello preconfezionato, anziché all’espansione dei riflessi del proprio essere interiore. Ma cos’è la bellezza interiore o quella esteriore e su quali elementi di giudizio si fonda? Ancora una volta siamo nello sconfinato campo della soggettività, nella difficoltà di individuare parametri universali e nella trappola delle opinioni comuni, di quelle suggerite dall’ambiente, dalle legislazioni, dalle religioni, dalle condizioni economiche e dalla capacità d’imporsi delle culture dominanti.
L’imbroglio pubblicitario
Il massimo della falsità dell’apparenza si tocca con la pubblicità, autentico regno dell’effimero, del superficiale, della menzogna, spesso sfacciata, secondo tecniche che i professionisti delle vendite o dell’immagine credono efficaci per conseguire il convincimento e quindi lo stimolo all’acquisto. Se gran parte della cinematografia, è basata sul verisimile, la strategia pubblicitaria non esita a ricorrere a qualsiasi strumento di cattura dell’attenzione, servendosi persino di bambini, di famiglie sorridenti, di corpi nudi o quasi, con notevole prevalenza del femminile, pur di sponsorizzare un prodotto. L’uso del fantastico, del supereroe, dell’iconografia che proietta mostri e configurazioni spettacolari del bene e del male, serve a dar cibo all’immaginazione come valvola d’evasione e come orizzonte possibile. E così questi presunti esperti di marketing si convincono che una pubblicità riproposta dopo tre minuti sia più efficace, anziché tediare e generare insofferenza, così come altri sono convinti che scrivere 1,99 anziché due euro, invogli di più a comprare, anziché far nascere nell’acquirente l’idea di essere preso in giro. Esempi di “circonvenzione” si trovano in internet nelle lunghe e dotte disquisizioni mediche da parte di un dottore, probabilmente inesistente, al lavoro in qualche famosa università o ospedale, che ha trovato il prodotto miracoloso per guarire dai dolori articolari, dalle placche, dall’ipertensione, dalla prostatite, dai chili in eccesso: alla fine della “lezione” si trova il prodotto, scontato del 50% per chi acquista entro una certa data, previo contatto telefonico con un presunto esperto che ti garantisce di acquistarne, con ulteriore riduzione, più pezzi, perché l’efficacia della cura si verifica nel tempo: il tutto con l’avvertenza che il prodotto non si trova in farmacia, perché la medicina ufficiale non ne riconosce la miracolosità, pena la mancanza di vendita di altri farmaci.
Il linguaggio
La prevalenza dell’apparenza ha il suo strumento principale nel linguaggio, più efficace se corredato dall’immagine e da qualche suadente musica di successo. Anche qua la tendenza è quella dell’iperbole, della metafora, dell’enfatizzazione del nulla. Due esempi fra tutti: Di Maio che, dopo l’approvazione del reddito di cittadinanza proclama la fine della povertà e gli attuali novax che usano il termine “dittatura”, con truculente simbologie naziste, per rivendicare “il diritto” di non vaccinarsi. In politica vale lo slogan di berlusconiana, ma in realtà di mussoliniana memoria “l’importante non è il fare, ma il far credere di fare” e la giornaliera riproposizione delle norme di persuasione suggerite da Goebbels, secondo cui, per dirne una, “una bugia detta mille volte diventa una verità”. Ma già Orwell aveva bene individuato l’uso propagandistico di alcuni termini in modo semplice, efficace e persuasivo all’interno della gestione del potere. Alla base dell’uso del lessico spesso non è più necessario neanche il riferimento di un termine o “significante” al suo originario “significato”, ovvero a ciò che significa per il soggetto che lo usa, o, ancor più al “dato” reale cui si fa riferimento. E a questo punto si chiude il cerchio dell’imbroglio, della vittoria dell’apparenza, della superficialità, della condivisione di ciò che ha più forza di persuasione. Se al di là di tutto questo ci sta l’inconoscibile, l’ignoto, o l’immaginario, il personale, il soggettivo, l’husserliana Lebenswelt, con il suo lontano richiamo verso un’originarietà perduta, oppure se questa terrificante apparenza è la manifestazione dell’essere stesso, anzi proprio l’essere, capace di adattarsi, riprodursi, riconoscersi per quel che è, perché al di là di esso, come analizzato da Sartre, c’è il niente, è un tema su cui si continuerà a discutere.
Il tripudio dell’apparenza è l’essere e la ragione di essere della metafisica. Non parliamo dei valori morali, le virtù, il controllo razionale dell’emotività ecc, su cui Nietzsche ha speso tante parole, senza essere ascoltato, ma solo deliberatamente frainteso. Una costruzione mentale che si chiami Dio, anima, religione con i suoi riti, cioè con la sua esteriorizzazione di un interno bisogno di socializzazione, di compensazione delle proprie debolezze con la credenza nell’onnipotenza divina, e una serie di contorni che si chiamano angeli, santi, paradiso, inferno, peccato mortale, sacramenti. E’ davvero il trionfo dell’apparenza che trasforma un’ostia di farina nel corpo di Cristo e un calice di vino nel suo sangue e in cibo divino con una pratica che sembra cannibalesca, che trasforma l’azzurro del cielo in Paradiso e attribuisce a una divinità la presunta armonia-razionalità dell’universo e la sua inevitabile ma indimostrabile finitezza, dal momento che l’infinità è una peculiarità divina. Inevitabilmente siamo tornati alla divaricazione di Platone, dalla quale ci si può liberare solo ricomponendo la “scissione”, restituendo all’essere la sua identità di spirito-energia e materia e alla materia la sua unità totalizzante, divina se vogliamo, dove l’apparire, la sua fenomenicità è una delle sue tante componenti, in rapporto al modo di viverla e di cercare di leggerla, che è la caratteristica di ogni essere pensante.
Il filmato
Altro discorso è quello dei comportamenti individuati e proposti nella costruzione scenica e teatrale di un testo che è inevitabilmente una distorsione o una personale ricostruzione di un momento fantastico prospettato come reale e/o possibile. A meno che non si tratti di argomenti deliberatamente fantastici. La cinematografia ha fatto in questo campo i passi più grandi: se nelle antiche tragedie greche interveniva il “deus ex machina” a risolvere situazioni ingarbugliatissime, nelle riprese cinematografiche si assiste a tutta una serie di improbabilità, del tipo dell’eroe che riesce a sfuggire a ripetute sventagliate di mitra o che compare a sorpresa quando è stato lasciato in tutt’altra parte del mondo. I grandi maestri del realismo sono stati definitivamente rimossi perché ritenuti noiosi, con dilagante ricorso all’“americanata”, cioè all’iperbole, alla esibizione della violenza scenica, alla capacità di creare paure e angosce attraverso l’horror e l’orrido, alla tensione derivante da guide spericolatissime e da esplosioni alle quali nessuno dovrebbe sopravvivere, tranne l’eroe con la sua compagna o compagnia. Vedere tutto ciò comporta inevitabilmente acquisire modelli di comportamento, pensare che quel che è messo in scena sia plausibile e fattibile, armarsi per sparare su una numerosa scolaresca o farsi esplodere in un affollatissimo mercato. La costruzione del modo di essere dei soggetti umani si compone di tutta una serie di frammenti costantemente indotti, assorbiti, digeriti e assimilati, da cui non è facile intravedere quale sarà l’identità dell’uomo del futuro, costantemente bombardato da falsi input e ancorato disperatamente non alla sua non più rintracciabile originaria identità, ma a quella del prolungamento di se stesso, il suo cellulare.
Tribunali e giornali
Non è un film, ma funziona come un film: tutto il palazzo di giustizia è un vasto palcoscenico in cui in ogni aula si manda in scena la rappresentazione testimoniata e provata di un evento, che non è e non sarà mai l’evento. Già la corte e gli avvocati, con le loro buffe ed estemporanee toghe, per fortuna senza parrucca, i nastrini e i fiocchi dorati sulle spalle, sono il primo esempio, rispetto al quale l’imputato è chiamato a recitare la sua parte, l’avvocato a dar prova di persuasività e di eloquenza, il giudice a dettare le cose da mettere a verbale al cancelliere, nel tentativo raramente riuscito di esprimere una sintesi compiuta di quanto riferito. Fortunatamente tutto viene registrato, ma l’attendibilità della registrazione o della deposizione è un altro elemento a metà strada tra verità e falsità. Anche la sentenza è un capolavoro di recita affidata a un singolo protagonista o a un collegio e la sua opinabilità è già indicata nel fatto che ad essa ci si può appellare in appello e in cassazione e che tutto può essere ribaltato. L’apparenza caratterizza particolarmente le misure di prevenzione, che proprio sul pregiudizio che possano esserci parentele, comportamenti del passato, amicizie, affari e soci della cui correttezza dubitare, fondano la loro ragion d’essere ribaltando interamente quella “legalità” che esse dicono di rispettare. E’ un esercizio di capacità critica quello di sapere distinguere tra varie verità che non sono verità, tra la verità legale e la verità storica, tra l’attendibilità del racconto giornalistico e il potere di chi dà direttive e disposizioni sull’impostazione della notizia, e infine tra la lettura politica e l’interpretazione dell’avvenimento, con le infinite diatribe anche su immagini che raccontano la guerra, le sue distruzioni, i racconti di chi la vive, sulla diversa provenienza dei profughi e la diversa accoglienza.
Double face
Il luogo della rappresentazione scenica può essere, oltre all’aula di tribunale, una chiesa, una sede di partito, il parlamento, uno stadio, una sfilata di moda o di carnevale, un festival, una serata da ballo, una spiaggia estiva, un mercato, una parata militare, una caserma, un’azienda, un ospedale, uno studio professionale, una palestra, un maneggio, una piscina, una scuola ecc. C’è sempre una tendenza a truccarsi, a vestirsi, a muoversi per ballare, ad acquistare il “linguaggio da cassiera”, tipo “sacchetto?”. C’è una divisa dalle lontane origini storiche ereditate, altre volte da necessità di lavoro, c’è l’omaggio ipocrita a persone che meriterebbero di essere prese a calci nel sedere, c’è la finta indignazione se si avvia un tentativo di corruzione ecc. Siamo in un mondo double face: anche in istituti che ormai si sono liberati dalle divise, come le scuole, si assiste ad esibizioni di trucchi, vestiari, atteggiamenti dove tutti, alunni, docenti, non-docenti recitano la loro parte in un mondo fasullo di interrogazioni, giudizi, di voti soggettivi e indiscutibili, di colloqui, di registri, di riunioni, di programmazioni, di verbali, di saggi di fine anno, di commissioni d’esami in palcoscenico, ecc.
C’è da chiedersi quando, in tutto questo quando si è se stessi e se esiste più un se stesso. Anche quando si è nudi sotto la doccia ci si vuol togliere qualcosa che sta addosso e offusca l’identità. Il momento che precede il sonno è troppo breve per attivare una retrospettiva e una valutazione del proprio essere nel giorno trascorso e il sogno, proprio a causa delle sue alterazioni e rivisitazioni oniriche dei momenti vissuti, non è meno attendibile di tante altre mistificazioni della realtà sono state imposte come il vero da accettare, in cui riconoscersi e da condividere. Il mitico “la vita est un sueno” di Calderon de la Barca segna lo spartiacque tra il “qui e ora” e “l’altrove”, tra il momento vivente e quello possibile, immaginato e desiderato. In mezzo ci sta poi il rapporto con ciò che si vive, l’accettazione passiva e rassegnata, associata alla convinzione dell’immutabilità delle regole della storia e dell’esistenza, appena mitigata dal pensiero dell’altro mondo post mortem in cui ci sarà giustizia e merito per chi avrà seguito i precetti, la convinzione di essere protagonisti del momento storico che attraversa l’esistenza, cosa che appartiene ai gruppi dirigenti e alle classi sociali calate nel presente, la ribellione, la rivolta, l’impegno duro e ostinato a cambiare la propria condizione, oppure l’ordine delle cose intravisto in un modello sociale diverso, quasi sempre destinato ad affondare nel momento in cui bisogna sviluppare dentro di sé capacità creative, conoscenze e competenze per realizzare quanto al momento non esistente. Ed ancora una volta si tratta di dar corpo a convinzioni, proiezioni, realizzazioni in cui è necessario cancellare tutti i parametri sociali, morali, politici, economici su cui è radicato il tessuto dell’esistenza di buona parte dell’umanità a partire dalle lontane origini in cui, secondo Rousseau ci fu un primo uomo che costruì un recinto e disse: “Questo è mio”, dando origine alle diseguaglianze. Si presume che tutto questo non dovrebbe nascere dall’iniziativa di un singolo o di un gruppo, ma dalla costruzione di ciò che emerge da ogni singolo, e siccome i singoli non sono stati messi in condizione di esprimere un proprio autentico giudizio, il problema di sfrondare l’albero di tutte le sue sovrapposizioni, rami e foglie inutili, non è praticabile né realizzabile, perché il potenziale soggetto “liberato”, ove mai lo fosse, non dispone dei mezzi e degli strumenti per vivere nel mondo della felicità di tutti. Alla fine, a forza di girarci attorno siamo tornati a Marx e al proletariato che dovrebbe uccidere se stesso, dopo la sua dittatura, per realizzare il comunismo e, dopo, l’anarchia.
