Anche questo numero è costato fatica e denaro, e si è potuto fare grazie all’impegno di Riccardo Orioles – che ha fondato la rivista e dirige anche il sito online, costantemente aggiornato – e dei suoi carusi. Riccardo Orioles, che è anche direttore della testata giornalistica di Telejato, è stato uno dei più attivi collaboratori di Giuseppe Fava, il giornalista catanese ucciso dalla mafia il 5/1/1986 e fondatore del giornale I Siciliani, al quale il nuovo giornale si ispira, riportando, proprio in copertina, una famosa frase di Fava; “A che serve vivere se non si ha il coraggio di lottare?”
I Siciliani giovani è in rete dal 2012, è presente in una decina di città con una rete di giovani giornalisti determinati, pieni di entusiasmo e fermamente decisi a continuare il lavoro di giornalisti nel nome di Giuseppe Fava. E allora, come mai il giornale non si trova in tutte le edicole? Semplice: i soldi. La sottoscrizione di qualche anno fa è riuscita bene fra i lettori poveri, ma non fra gli amici più titolati: la maggior parte dei quali si è limitata a fare auguri e lodi, che però tipografi e cartiere tendono a non accettare. Il lavoro portato avanti in questi anni è di altissima qualità nel mondo opaco del giornalismo italiano. In Lombardia come in Sicilia i nostri redattori fanno il loro dovere, scrivono, fanno inchieste, subiscono avvertimenti e querele. Vecchi colleghi e giornalisti nuovi lavorano tranquillamente a questo prodotto collettivo, che ha il suo baricentro (2013!) nella rete ma che ha bisogno anche dell’edicola come fatto simbolico e di “ritorno in campo” pieno e totale. L’acquisto di questo numero, che costa cinque euro, è un modo per continuare a tenere in vita un giornale di giovani e non più giovani di cui la Sicilia e tutta la libera informazione hanno bisogno: “Non tradite con la vostra indifferenza coloro che stanno lottando anche per voi” è l’appello di chi collabora a questo giornale, che ospita le firme più prestigiose del giornalismo italiano, in particolare di coloro che si occupano di problemi della società contemporanea, dalla mafia all’informazione.
Questo numero contiene in particolare due servizi di Salvo Vitale: in uno viene ricostruito, tassello dopo tassello il complesso reticolo del “sistema Saguto”, con i contatti emersi dalle intercettazioni, nell’altro sono ricostruite con un’analisi documentata, alcune schegge d’informazione libera in Sicilia, sia guardando al passato, sia al presente: punto di partenza Danilo Dolci e la sua “radio libera” di Partinico, ovvero “la radio dei poveri cristi”, primo esempio di radio libera in Italia, nel 1970. Il successivo passaggio è quello di Radio Aut, la radio di Peppino Impastato, che presenta singolari analogie con la radio di Dolci. Un posto merita anche l’esperienza di Mauro Rostagno a R.T.C., per concludere con Telejato e il suo decennio di informazione e denunce sui problemi dell’ambiente e su quelli della mafia.
