Il tuffo di Colapesce, dal nome della celebre leggenda popolare marinara di Messina (della quale si hanno varianti), superbamente cantata dall’indimenticata Maria Costa – poetessa dello Stretto – propone un ricco compendio di saggi, articoli, interviste e testi critici che Lorenzo Spurio – apprezzato critico letterario marchigiano, uno dei maggiori studiosi lorchiani del nostro Paese – ha raccolto nel corso degli anni studiando e approfondendo alcuni classici siciliani (Sciascia, Tomasi da Lampedusa, Brancati, Vittorini e non solo), tra poesia (tra cui quella del “poeta in piazza” Ignazio Buttitta) e narrativa, giungendo a numerosi contemporanei per i quali ha scritto prefazioni e recensioni.
In lungo e in largo si ripercorre le varie “punte” della bella Trinacria, luogo a lungo e ripetutamente visitato dall’autore nel corso degli anni – come ricorda in un avvincente “Diario di bordo” inserito nel volume – intrattenendo rapporti con poeti, scrittori e artisti di questa regione che lo affascina e che considera come una seconda casa.
Disamine attente sono rivolte anche nei riguardi dell’impegno di alcuni esponenti noti per il loro attivismo anti-mafioso (Danilo Dolci, Peppino Impastato e Maria Saladino). Non da ultimo, l’attenzione del critico è rivolta pure verso gli sperimentalismi letterari che negli ultimi anni sono nati proprio in Sicilia: il dittico poetico (Emanuele Marcuccio), la corto poesia italiana (Antonio Barracato e Dorothea Matranga), la poesia sculturata (Giovanna Fileccia) e la quarto-poesia, il trinismo e la “scalenata” (Rosario Loria).
La vicenda di Colapesce – a cui il bagherese Renato Guttuso dedicò uno dei centoquarantatré pannelli decorativi installati nella volta del Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina e il cui motivo del “tuffo” è richiamato, seppur in forma stilizzata nella copertina del libro di Spurio – ha a che vedere con la leggenda (divenuta mito) che narra della triste storia di un certo Nicola, figlio di un pescatore, la cui grande abilità nel nuotare e la cui simbiosi con le acque del mare, lo vede trasfigurato (ed è questa l’avvincente icona che gli si lega e si tramanda) in una figura chimerica di uomo-pesce. Viveva placidamente nel fondo del mare, ma quando il re lo chiamò sulla terraferma per implorarlo di aiutarlo e consegnarli una missione, non si fece attendere. Il sovrano, infatti, derelitto e impaurito, (secondo un’altra variante il Sovrano, invece, lo sfidò tendendogli delle prove sott’acqua, via via più difficoltose) gli comunicò che la sua Regione (sorretta da tre pilastri, con uno in imminente disfacimento) era in procinto di sprofondare e così Colapesce accettò di tuffarsi per cercare di sorreggere la Sicilia. Da allora è là sotto: secondo alcuni è morto, non essendo più risalito in superficie, secondo altri, invece, con spirito sacrificale oltre ogni limite, è ancora là, fattosi colonna perpetua, come un marmo incorruttibile, a puntellare la Sicilia che, proprio grazie a lui, è salva e persiste. Seguendo questo tracciato popolare tramandatosi nel tempo secondo alcuni i movimenti sismici che si percepiscono nella zona Messina-Catania sono da imputare proprio a Colapesce che, sott’acqua, per cercare di riposarsi del grande peso che porta, ogni tanto cambierebbe la spalla su cui tutto grava.
Non è la prima volta che Lorenzo Spurio dedica un libro alla poesia di questa regione del nostro Meridione: nel 2019, infatti, aveva curato un elegante volume antologico (Viaggio in Sicilia) con poesie di poeti siciliani contemporanei che nel corso del periodo 2015-2018 avevano preso parte ai reading poetici da lui organizzati e promossi, con l’Associazione Euterpe, in Sicilia. In quel caso ciascun testo poetico era anticipato da una nota bio-bibliografica degli autori e l’opera si componeva di alcuni brani in ricordo e commemorazione di illustri esponenti delle Lettere della Trinacria venuti a mancare. Volume che, pur stampato a tiratura limitata in raffinata veste editoriale, ottenne importanti adesioni – in termini di riconoscimento del lavoro e di Patrocinio morale – da parte di distinti centri di cultura (Università di Palermo, Accademia Federiciana di Catania, Istituto di Cultura Siciliana di Catania, Centro Studi “Maria Costa” di Messina, etc.), oltre che di amministrazioni locali.
Il tuffo di Colapesce, libro che conta circa quattrocento pagine, ordinabile in tutte le librerie online, inaugura la collana “asSaggi”, interamente dedicata alla critica letteraria, all’interno del Gruppo Letterario Culturale Edizioni (G.C.L. Edizioni) di Pulsano (TA) diretta da Gian Carlo Lisi.
