I Carabinieri Forestali del Centro Anticrimine Natura di Palermo, insieme ai Carabinieri del Reparto Biodiversità di Catanzaro, in questi giorni hanno iniziato un ciclo d’incontri con le scuole primarie e secondarie di 1° e 2° grado che hanno aderito al progetto triennale denominato “Un albero per il Futuro” promosso dal Comando per la Tutela della Biodiversità e dei Parchi dell’Arma dei Carabinieri e rivolto alle scuole.

Oggi i Carabinieri hanno consegnato un esemplare di Ficus macrophilla creato per duplicazione dall’Albero Falcone, il meraviglioso ficus che cresce davanti a quella che era l’abitazione del Giudice Giovanni Falcone, all’I. C. Rita Borsellino di Piazza Magione a Palermo, evento che si inserisce nell’ambito della campagna di sensibilizzazione per il risparmio energetico e gli stili di vita sostenibili promossa da Caterpillar- Rai Radio2 con Rai per il Sociale e denominata M’illumino di meno che quest’anno vede la collaborazione con l’Arma dei Carabinieri. Piantare un albero e prendersene cura servirà a crescere insieme nel verde e a rendere più piacevole l’ambiente scolastico promuovendo uno stile di vita sostenibile. Una trentina di alunni, accompagnati dai docenti, hanno risposto con entusiasmo all’iniziativa rendendosi custodi, non solo virtuali, della pianta. Ciascuna talea sarà materialmente collocata a terra da parte degli studenti delle scuole che hanno aderito all’iniziativa che, successivamente, avranno il compito di continuare a occuparsi delle piante seguendole nelle varie fasi di crescita.

Durante l’incontro, agli studenti è stato spiegato l’obiettivo del progetto: dar vita a un enorme bosco diffuso a cui, pianta dopo pianta, ciascuna scuola contribuirà a dar vita e che la crescita del bosco potrà essere monitorata tramite il sito internet unalberoperilfuturo.rgpbio.it che, grazie alla geolocalizzazione di ciascuna pianta – operazione anch’essa fatta dagli studenti – restituirà l’aggiornamento sul quadro complessivo nazionale del bosco diffuso e fornirà informazioni sul risparmio in anidride carbonica che il loro albero avrà comportato nell’atmosfera in relazione al suo accrescimento.

In queste settimane saranno venti le scuole della Provincia di Palermo che riceveranno altrettanti esemplari dell’Albero Falcone oltre a trecento piantine appartenenti a varie specie forestali autoctone.

Mercoledì scorso i Carabinieri Forestali e il Comandante della Stazione San Filippo Neri, sono stati accolti presso l’Istituto Comprensivo Leonardo Sciascia del quartiere Z.E.N. dove hanno incontrato oltre un centinaio di alunni e consegnato loro 40 esemplari di leccio, la quercia sempreverde che vive nei nostri boschi, e una talea dall’Albero Falcone.

Per l’Arma dei Carabinieri si tratta di un progetto ambizioso per aiutare a contrastare i reati ambientali grazie alla prevenzione: educare alla legalità ambientale coinvolgendo le scuole in questo obiettivo strategico e certamente la presenza dell’Albero di Falcone concorrerà a sensibilizzare i ragazzi al tema dell’impegno sociale ma anche all’importanza della salvaguardia ambientale.
