Una mattinata ricca di stimoli e riflessioni presso la scuola media di Casalbordino.
Un Paese orrendamente sporco, accanto a noi, ogni giorno, mentre prendiamo la pizzetta dal panettiere o giochiamo. Davanti al quale prima di chiedersi cosa possono fare in alto i «grandi» chiedersi cosa possiamo fare noi. Pasolini e l’ex presidente USA Kennedy non sono mai stati citati il 14 febbraio ma queste loro frasi riassumono perfettamente la mattinata. Il giorno di San Valentino la scuola media Padre Settimio Zimarino di Casalbordino ha ospitato una delle tappe di «Coscienza civica e valori legalmente riconosciuti», il convegno che Progetto Di Vita sta portando in tante località italiane. La tappa di Casalbordino ha visto il felice connubio tra la scuola, la Pro Loco di Casalbordino e Progetto Di Vita, evento patrocinato (tra gli altri) dal Comune di Casalbordino.
Dopo l’introduzione del presidente della Pro Loco di Casalbordino Nicola Tiberio, che ha ricordato l’importanza di eventi come questi per il futuro della nostra società e la cittadinanza del domani che sono i ragazzi di oggi, sono intervenuti il preside Camillo D’Intino, che ha ricordato la circolare ministeriale inviata dopo le stragi di mafia del 1992 e l’importanza dello studio a scuola dell’educazione civica e della Costituzione, e l’assessore Carla Zinni a nome dell’amministrazione comunale. La memoria attiva di Roberto Mancini, Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino, Peppino Impastato, Rita Atria, don Lorenzo Milani ha accompagnato l’intensa mattinata animata dalla testimonianza dei fondatori di Progetto Di Vita Adriana Colacicco e Gerardo Gatti e dal vibrante intervento del nostro direttore Paolo De Chiara, ricca di stimoli e riflessioni anche da parte degli alunni sulle mafie, sui comportamenti sbagliati e illegali che ogni giorno avvengono intorno a noi, sulla mancanza di rispetto per gli altri e il bene comune, sull’importanza di studiare, conoscere, avere il coraggio di rifiutare ogni comportamento violento, omertoso, in una parola sola mafioso. Una mafiosità che non prolifera solo lontano da noi, in regioni lontane o nelle cronache della stampa nazionale ma soprattutto accanto, nella meschina quotidianità del bullismo, del vandalismo, della violenza prevaricatrice, nel compromesso interessato, nel nutrirsi di qualunquismo e interessi sbagliati. E in affari sporchi, complicità, presenza di personaggi che hanno scelto di schierarsi con il «paese orribilmente sporco» (come ben sa e conosce anche questo territorio), rivendicandolo con orgoglio e portando avanti intrecci criminali, mafiosi, omertosi.
All’incontro ha partecipato Massimiliano Travaglini a nome del Movimento delle Agende Rosse, fondato da Salvatore Borsellino (il fratello del giudice Paolo), che ha donato alla scuola una copia dell’agenda rossa (simbolo dell’associazione in ricordo di quella del giudice fatta sparire dopo la strage, simbolo dei depistaggi nella ricerca della verità e giustizia) consegnandola nelle mani di un felice ed emozionato preside D’Intino.
Insieme ai ragazzi e alle ragazze delle classi seconde e terza della scuola è stato presente tra il pubblico Nicola Zanni a rappresentare l’Arma dei Carabinieri, occasione per ricordare l’importante ruolo che le forze dell’ordine, i magistrati e nella scuola il corpo docente e i collaboratori scolastici, svolgono ogni giorno per la sicurezza della collettività e il rispetto delle leggi, delle regole tutelando le parti più deboli e indifese della società. Rita Atria era ancora minorenne quando davanti alla violenza e agli omicidi di suoi congiunti decise di ripudiare la famiglia, di scegliere la legalità e la libertà e di parlare con Paolo Borsellino. Una scelta coraggiosa che alcuni hanno avuto il coraggio e la forza di fare dopo di lei mentre altri sono rimasti irriducibilmente orgogliosi e ancorati alle radici mafiose (come, e lo abbiamo già ricordato, anche questo territorio è testimone). Disperata dopo la strage di Via D’Amelio ordinata da Riina e dalle menti raffinatissime su cui ancora oggi non c’è, nonostante l’impegno di alcuni coraggiosi magistrati, piena verità. Rita si suicidò dopo averci lasciato una pagina straziante e che deve ancor oggi imporre riflessioni: «Prima di combattere la mafia devi farti un auto-esame di coscienza e poi, dopo aver sconfitto la mafia dentro di te, puoi combattere la mafia che c’è nel giro dei tuoi amici, la mafia siamo noi ed il nostro modo sbagliato di comportarsi», nel tema per la maturità aveva già scritto che «l’unico sistema per eliminare tale piaga è rendere coscienti i ragazzi che vivono tra la mafia che al di fuori c’è un altro mondo fatto di cose semplici, ma belle, di purezza, un mondo dove sei trattato per ciò che sei, non perché sei figlio di questa o di quella persona, o perché hai pagato un pizzo per farti fare quel favore. Forse un mondo onesto non esisterà mai, ma chi ci impedisce di sognare. Forse se ognuno di noi prova a cambiare, forse ce la faremo». Parole che non raccontano una realtà lontana, diversa da quella quotidiana di ognuno di noi. E quella speranza finale, quel non volersi arrendere davanti ad ogni disperazione, ad ogni (apparente) vittoria della violenza mafiosa ricorda una delle riflessioni più conosciute di Borsellino: «Se la gioventù le negherà il consenso, anche l’onnipotente e misteriosa mafia svanirà come un incubo». Un incubo che la scuola di Casalbordino ha ascoltato, attento e vivace, dalle testimonianze di Colacicco, Gatti e De Chiara. E dimostrando, ancora una volta, che le giovani generazioni sono molto meglio di come vengono spesso descritte e dei «grandi»: con la semplicità e l’intelligenza della loro età in tanti (addirittura il tempo a disposizione ha costretto a interrompere questo flusso di travolgente voglia di partecipazione) hanno posto domande e riflessioni alla fine della mattinata: senza troppi fronzoli, calcoli, opportunismi o voglia di silenzi e di amalgamarsi si sono interrogati su come possono essere cittadini migliori e costruire il proprio avvenire. Una lezione per un certo «pubblico delle grandi occasioni», come si dice con una frase forse banale ma di sicura efficacia, che ha perso la grande occasione di partecipare ad una mattinata ricca ed importante. E di farla conoscere, diffonderla, dargli risonanza.
